Annotation

Resilience resides within relations. How people relate to a house, a house to a city and the city to its people. The ground floor of the house belongs to the city and the upper floors belong to its inhabitants. The house should be as open and transparent to its immediate surrounding public space and stregthen their collective qualities. In one half of the ground floor is a cafe and the other half is occupied by a gallery with a lower floor. The house should stregthen and add to the qualities of the bustling district of Vršovice. A deliberate inspiration can be found in and around Krymská street in Vršovice, with many cafes and cultural institutions. There are 16 apartments in the building in total. Their larger layout should provide, aside from comfort, a variable use in time.
