NEW KLÁŠTERNÍ DISTRICT - ADAPTIVE REUSE OF HOPS FARMSTEAD

Annotation

The New Klášterní district represents a development of several historical farming houses related to the hop production in the city of Žatec and sets itself the goal to create a multifunctional space for people to gather and create a place of identity for locals. The three main functions housed in the location are a museum for Jewish history of the town, a centre for design and architectural heritage, and further residential uses. Behind the architectural idea stands a respectful treatment of the historical brick structure utilizing its spatial qualities and the gentle addition of new, contrasting elements to allow for new use in the best way possible.
