Parametric Structural System for Passive Houses

Implementation of the directive 2010/31/EU, which was adopted in order to strengthen the energy performance requirements on the buildings, will have a huge impact on architecture. Although the current situation is diverse in different EU countries, the common denominator to the most of the passive houses built in EU is the lack of architectural qualities of wide significance. By "architectural qualities" it is meant above all aesthetic qualities and interaction of the building with its context. The reason of that is not only the incompetence of architects but also the lack of efficient design and manufacturing tools for passive houses. The intention of this research is to develop a new method of fabrication process for passive houses. Research focuses especially on the link-up of the CAAD (Computer-aided architectural design) and the CAM process (Computer-aided manufacturing) and it deals only with timber structures. The aim of the project is to develop system that would allow for simp
