New methods of work with database data documenting the works of modern architecture from the perspective of the history and development of architecture.

An important part of the documentation of the history and development of architecture is the documentation of the individual architectural works. There are several databases developed and operated for data management of architectural works in the Czech Republic. It is a relational database or a relational object type that is best suited for this purpose. This project focuses on research into new possibilities and methods of work with managed text, raster and vector data. In the field of alfanumeric (textual) data, research will focus on finding the best solution for dealing specifically structured text describing the architectural works. In the field of image data, the research focuses on finding an appropriate solution for managing and displaying high resolution raster documents and 2D and 3D vector data. Attention will also focus on methods for displaying geographic position of works of architecture with the use of points, curves, surfaces in single and multiple layers. Implementation of the project will enable improved documentation of works of architecture in a relational database environment. It will enable more accurate and complete documentation of works. The research will use analytical and design methods of software engineering in the following steps: anlysis of current general technical methods and possibility of working with the relevant type of text and image data, evaluation of options for use in database architecture, design and implementation into the relational database model. Part of the analysis and design phase is the collection, evaluation and incorporation of user and technical requirements.
