Jak reaguje architektura pomocí konverze vesnických domů a statků? V příspěvku se
zaměříme na novostavby vstupující do struktury, která byla ve velmi špatném technickém stavu. Projekt tedy využívá pouze fragment bývalé stodoly nebo otevřeně
přiznává poškození původního domu. Můžeme narazit na různé přístupy k ruině statku, od romantické estetizace po pragmatické využití.
Do architektonické praxe vstupuje globalizovaná nabídka materiálů a inspirace z internetu, která stírá regionální detaily při úpravách venkovských budov. Jsou ale autorské zprávy o využití všech místních materiálů skutečně pravdivé? A je obnovení
postupů z minulosti udržitelné pro okolní krajinu?

Kniha bilancuje rozsáhlé architektonické dílo významného současného českého architekta Ladislava Lábuse. Přináší analýzu jednotlivých stránek jeho díla a hodnotí hlavní skupiny jeho projektů, od rodinných domů a vil, přes obnovy historických objektů, zejména děl funkcionalismu až po rozsáhlejší pozdní projekty. Zabývá se také texty architekta a jeho pedagogickou činností. Do publikace přispěla řada významných teoretiků a historiků architektury. Vychází k architektovým sedmdesátinám.

Termin "topografická architektura" označuje budovy, které imitují přírodní geologické formy, jejich fasáda či střecha navazuje bezešvým způsobem na zemský povrch, případně nový terén samy aktivně tvoří. Hybridní vztah mezi budovou a krajinou představuje metodologickou výzvu pro interpretaci těchto staveb v rámci teorie architektury.

Villa Tugendhat in Brno, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929, is an early example of modern interchange between interior and exterior which is played out on several levels, both literally and figuratively. It is articulated differently on each of the two, or three floors, respectively (the basement and garden level included), using different means and with a different result, but always with a close eye to the relationship to the villa’s garden, the surrounding landscape, and the urban panorama. The paper explains how the building’s relationship to the landscape and the cityscape emerges from the architecture itself, from the very nature of the building which appropriates its external surroundings, visually and conceptually, and makes them an inseparable part of experience of the house, a kind of modern “belvedere”.

Anotace
The relationship of modern architecture to its external physical conditions and its natural surroundings has been ambivalent: on one hand largely neglected, on the other hand producing profoundly innovative concepts. Alvar Aalto was one of the first architects who took advantage of both structural and conceptual possibilities of modern architecture to create an original approach to the above mentioned issue, conceiving the interior space of a house as a counterpart to the outside spatial situation.
The paper is based on a comparative case study of two key works of modern architecture, both completed in the 1930s: the Villa Mairea by Aalto and Villa Tugendhat by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Both architects arrived at original formulations of the interior-exterior relationship using major modern conceptual invention, the plan libre. While Mies uses rather classical strategy and colonizes the exterior space by means of a spatial grid of load-bearing columns, projecting the architectural order onto the outside, Aalto invents truly new approach. With great respect to natural conditions on the site he lets the exterior of his buildings, their natural surroundings, enter the interior of the house in the metaphorical form of a forest of columns or complex vertical composition. The different concepts of the two modern masters are identified as two distinctive types of modern architectural space. The paper proposes to term them as „projective space“ (Mies) and „ambient space“ (Aalto).
