BODY & NATURE | Forest swimming pool – Spa – Accommodation in KOKOŘÍN valley
SS 2026
The existing outdoor swimming pool is situated in Korořín valley, a beautiful rocky and hilly lanscape area north of Prague. Built in the First Republic in the early 20th century, the pool has fallen in state of disrepair even if it’s in close proximity to Kokorín’s castle. The task is to urbanistically regenerate and reactivate the entire area by programming the swimming pool with new supporting facilities such as changing rooms, a spa/wellness area, a restaurant, possible accomodation like a small hotel and a cultural center. The swimming pool should also be techically redesigned close to a natural condition with biological filtration system. The standard geometric swimming pool therby transforms into a bathing lake where the technical systems and machine rooms vanish, to be substituted by planted filtering cascades. Its orthogonal shape could also be modified to react to a specific compositional concept
BODY & CITY | City swimming pool – Spa – Culture in SMÍCHOV's riverbank
SS 2026
Unlike the successful and active eastern Rašinovo riverbank, the Smíchov riverbank is largely inactive south of Palacký bridge. An example of this is the unfinished segment of the pier by the southern steel train bridge. The semester task is to define, organize and activate this very exclusive area with a public activities like river swimming pools, spa, gastro and art galleries. Because of its location, the strategy of the architectural form is very important in the design process. Should it be underground? Should it be above ground as a strong form solitaire piece? Should be a group of smaller pavilions integrated in a park context? These are some of the questions to be resolved. This task also allows for a more expansive urban analysis and design proposals of adjacent empty or fragmented urban blocks and the southern riverbank to the end of Cisarska louka island
